I haven't read a lot of Fantastic Four, but if you'll point me towards what I should read, I'll happily provide some threading for you.
Also the key is something that Val and Sameth should definitely talk about whenever he finally gets through canon since in his canon, a lot of things are specially tuned towards one person or a family.
Oh I like that because then I'd be something only she could use. I think the main thing that is giving me pause is what happens if she makes it and someone else wants to use it.

As to what F4 to read, any of the John Byrne or the Waid/Wieringo run pretty much defines how I see the F4. The Marvel Knights 4 is also good for their family interactions. I think I might put Val's canon (which is only about 10 issues) up in canon share sometime soon.
Yes, a huge amount of stuff in the Old Kingdom only works if you're of a certain bloodline, which is useful and kind of creepy at times. After his canon finishes that's the kind of thing that Sameth will actually be making as Wallmaker so he'd enjoy the challenge a lot.

Oh, I just remembered that other people have made key things before, Security badges work as one that will always get you back to the Bar. Also I think Susannah Dean had a key of some sort, but I have no idea how it was created just I remember her using it. Most people just tend to bring something from the Bar with them and that helps them get back.

I'm also uploading the Marvel Knights series as it has some of the best characterization of the Fantastic Four in my opinion. I'll post the link to canonshare once their up.
Jen would definitely be welcome to the scene and maybe even be a good lightning rod for Susan's anger.
And yes, Val and Jen need to meet. One thing we might want to decide on before they met up again though is if they saw each other in canon after issue #451 when she and Val fought. Jen was under mind control at the time but within the comics they aren't shown to meet.
It totally makes sense to me that they have met post-fight but the LOLs of Val apologizing for the fight could be fun. I'll leave it up to you. = ]
